When to Hire Out?
First, think about what you are wanting to make. Is it going to be a lot of detail for you or something you could potentially throw together?
Next, think about the medium you’re using, is it going to be shared with a lot of people like a freebie, or printed professionally? Or just posting to social media?
Think more about the audience, and how they will digest the content. If you know that people are only going to see it on a social media post then chances are you can make it yourself. But if you are creating a magazine, flyer or brochure that could be sent out to donors, potential new clients or printed professionally, you might lean to hiring the project out.
You Might Not Need To Hire Out For These
Here are a few things in my opinion, that you don’t need a designer for (but you certainly can ask us to do them too!)
– Instagram Stories Templates
– A Cover Image for Facebook
– A Digital Flyer
– An Email Signature
These are things that can be easier and better for your budget to DIY than hire a designer.
I know this seems counterintuitive, since I’m telling you you don’t need me, but I want to help you! And sometimes that means giving you a DIY.
Canva is great for these, you can insert your brand colours, and voila build some polished items quickly within your budget!
Consider Hiring Out For These
If you’re going to be creating these things, you’ll likely want to hire a designer to ensure they’re done right
– A logo + brand suite
– Brochure, or any print document
– Carousels—a fancy name for a set of rotating images on your website
– ANY print materials, business cards, letterhead, stationery
The reason you’re going to want to hire out is that the professionals will be aware of some design best practices. Know about print needs, and also have the experience to build out something beautiful.
