About Maggie
I met Deva in September at the Bloom Conference in North Carolina. We both flew in to be poured into by my business coach, Allee Williams.
Deva and I ended up spending extra time together on the last day of the conference and spoke about her vision for her full-service hair salon. She mentioned she bought a website template from The Heart University’s shop, but needed help editing it and adding several pages.
After the conference, we hopped on a call and began discussing her website plan.
Since Vintage Virtue is under construction, we didn’t have all the details for the salon. But we worked on building out pages that can easily be adjusted when the salon is open later this year.
We have some additional pages and offerings coming—but I’ll stop there before I spill the tea on the WHOLE site.
Until this point, I hadn’t customized a template. All of my websites were built from a blank page. So this was a fun opportunity to edit what was already there and make it fit into Deva’s vision.
The Heart’s templates are beautiful. But there were a lot of details that we no longer needed for Deva’s salon. We ended up removing a lot of the embellishments and focusing on the copy and images to draw the visitors in.
But that’s not to say we removed everything from the original template. We loved the little bohemian accents from the template that will pair nicely with the salon once it’s fully furnished.
We loved the ripped paper, polaroids, and drawn flower elements. I worked on limiting the amount of excess graphics so there was a lot of whitespace on the page.
We worked hard from October to the end of December to have several pages ready for launch. We wanted the pages to be unique and reflect Deva’s brand colours while also being easy to navigate. I love that each page has its own colour and then the elements on the page compliment it.
Deva has so many exciting things she’s offering before the salon fully opens. Free classes, shadowing, community events, and more. I had such a fun time working on this site! It’s been a passion project for both Deva and me. And I am so excited that it is live, for everyone to see!
And be on the lookout this year as we continue to launch new and exciting details as Vintage Virtue Salon prepares for the opening! Check out Deva’s website and tell me what you love about it!
If you need help with building a fully-custom website or template customization, let me know! I’d love to partner with you on this journey. Hop into my calendar and let’s create something beautiful.
