Can I tell you a secret?š¤«
ā ā
Holding on to projects thinking you’ll get around to them one day, can stop you from chasing your dreams. ā ā
ā ā
You aren’t meant to do everything alone. You can’t possibly do it all yourself. We were designed to work together and help each otherā ā .
ā ā
It’s the same thing in business, you can’t be an expert in marketing, finance, sales, and production … something is bound to fall off the rails.ā ā
ā ā
That’s why outsourcing is key! ā ā
I know that pushing things off actually causes more stress because your to-do list will keep growing. And likely if you’re putting that item off, you don’t want to do it. Because if you’re like me, you avoid things you don’t like.
But outsourcing isn’t a bad thing!
In fact, it can help you! Putting some money toward a project you’ve been dreading, or hiring the expert on something can actually have positive outcomes (which we’ll talk about soon!)
Think of this for example. Your heater breaks, you could spend a few days taking the time to learn and fix it yourself. you might spend LOTS of money, time, make several mistakes and end up breaking it further or being REALLY frustrated with your furnace if you can figure out the problem.
Or you can hire a professional who KNOWS what they’re doing. Who has made lots of mistakes to get them where they are, and who knows the tried and true way to fix it.
You’re probably thinking, duh, Maggie, I’d hire the furnace repair person … so why don’t you do that with your business?
I’m not sure if it comes to down to pride, or what? Maybe because we’re entrepreneurs, we think we, and we alone have to make out business run without the help of others. Or that we have to have our hands in EVERY area to succeed.
But the truth with that is we can’t do EVERYTHING perfectly. Think also of a business that has many employees, there are departments for specific industriesāfinance, marketing, customer relations, etc.
Who’s to say you can’t have your own contracted marketing help?
I’m really trying to show you friend that trusting the expert IS BUSINESS. Trying to do it all alone, isn’t functional, and you’re leading yourself into more stress and likely away from what you’re passionate about/ ultimately wanting to do.
Friend, if you have a to-do list piled high with things on it like revamping your website or creating an intro guide for your clients, or even re-doing your brand, then it’s time to hire a designer.ā ā
ā ā
Chances are you’ve been holding off on designing that brochure, or updating your website tomorrow… but tomorrow has come and gone and they are sitting there taking up valuable space in your mind that can be used for rocking it in your biz!ā ā
Hiring the expert is an investmentāand I truly only recommend hiring someone if you have the money to do so. But the investment is worth it when you don’t have to worry about the project. Leave them to do what they are good at, so you can focus on your business.
And like the furnace example, a professional will know where to look if there are additional issues and can solve those too.
Hiring a trusted designer can help you take something off your plate, reduce your stress, and help you refocus so you can keep chasing your dreamsāin the area, you are passionate about.ā ā
I also want to touch on this briefly. There sometimes isn’t a good time to outsourceāmaybe you just started and you don’t have much flexible income. There is NOTHING wrong with DIY’ing and figuring things out on your own. But I encourage you to evaluate as your business grows to see where you could use an extra set of hands, and work toward hiring out, so you don’t have to be overwhelmed with everything.
One of my favourite parts of my job is seeing my clients let out a deep breath knowing they don’t have to worry about designing a project anymore.ā ā That it is in good hands, and they don’t have to micromanage it anymore. I know you can be a successful business owner and keep an eye on those other areas of your business. But only if you outsource. That could even be hiring a Virtual Assistant or Nanny if you need some extra hands at home.
My main point here is don’t think that you have to do this business thing all alone. Ask for help, seek out others who are the experts in their field, and work with them.
If you want to breathe a little easier in business, hire out some of your projects, trust me, you’ll feel a lot better!
I have some spots open in my calendar this year to get your project off your plate and into existence! Hop into my email to chat!ā ā
