About Maggie
Another Harry Potter inspired brand. I am a very BIG Harry Potter fan, so I thought it was fitting to create a passion project from this.
Padfoot is a fictional character in Harry Potter–the nickname of Harry’s uncle.
Thinking of Harry Potter’s uncle being an Animagus (a wizard who can change into an animal) I wanted the brand to include some form of animal. As well playing off the patronus of Harry Potter–a doe.
**Yes, I am a HUGE fan**
But don’t worry, this is the furthest that the Harry Potter fandom goes.
I wanted to create a brand that could be an all-in-one outdoor rental company. Padfoot Outdoor Adventure supports local outdoor travel by renting out equipment for leisure and intense activities. But along with rentals, they are travel guides. So you can rent your equipment and get a guide to lead you on an amazing adventure.
Padfoot, similar to its competitors sells outdoor equipment. But they stand out in rentals to allow novice and experienced adventurers to thrive.
The Padfoot brand wants to be the authority in the outdoor adventure industry. And they hire expert guides to lead groups on hiking, camping, and water adventures.
I wanted to use different pieces of the name and deer to be creative and unique. The variations can be used in various aspects of marketing and put on the rental equipment that Padfoot shares.
Having different sizes–both horizontal and vertical logos–is helpful for brands that print on merchandise so that there is room and versatility for the brand to fit.
I used a deer as the main icon because deers mean “instincts, intuition, speed, agility” (uniguide, 2022). Some key values that Padfoot stands for and wants to be remembered by.
The colours I chose needed to reflect the outdoors, so choosing green and brown were important. But also finding a brown that wasn’t too dirt-like was key.
As an avid outdoorsy person, I thought that Padfoot Outdoor Adventure would be something so beneficial in the Pacific Northwest, where we live.
I had so much fun creating the back story for the brand. And designing the brand to fit some outdoor rental and travel guide business.
Would you rent outdoor equipment for your next camping trip from Padfoot? I’d love to know!
I had so much fun creating this brand for my friend, even if it was only a passion project. I’d love to know what other industry I could try to create a brand for. Or if you are looking for a new brand, I’d be honoured to work with you! Hop into my inbox, or DM me on the ‘gram to chat!
