About Maggie
Pulling this fun project from the archives, because it’s just too fun not to share.
My friend Marshall reached out to me at the beginning of 2021 looking for a logo for his YouTube channel, Garage Time TV.
He wanted to have a cohesive look and logo to share with his viewers. Marshall’s channel focuses on him rebuilding and fixing old cars. We wanted his logo to reflect his work, while also being engaging to his audience.
Since most of Marshall’s viewers are male, we knew to stay within the red, black, and gray colours.
With a name like Garage Time TV, I toyed with the idea of including a TV in the designs.
I sketched some ideas out and presented them to Marshall. I decided to throw a TV idea into the mix, as it directly relates to the name and overall concept—people watching his YouTube channel.
Marshall provided a few examples of things he liked and I was able to narrow down the options.
He knew he wanted to include gears and car parts in some way, since that is the work he does on his channel. I provided some rough drafts for him to choose from. Then once he selected his favourites, I would refine these and build them into something unique.
Marshall liked the idea of including a TV. As the bottom left selection made the TV more unique and not cheesy.
He chose the bottom left and top left as the ones with potential. So I began editing and refining those down to tie into his brand, mission, and vision.
We didn’t have too many edits, as Marshall was very clear on what he wanted—which made it easy for me to design.
Our process took less than five revisions as we narrowed down on the logos for Garage Time TV.
We stuck with the TV as the primary logo and the gear as a secondary logo.
I had so much fun designing this brand because it was out of the norm for me. It stretched my creativity and allowed me to play with different textures in the typography. I’m so happy that Marshall trusted me with his brand.
You can see Marshall wearing his Garage Time TV shirt during some of his videos. As well as his stickers plastered around his garage, or with his local Auto Shop, which supplies him parts.
He was kind enough to send me some stickers as well, which I proudly have displayed on my water bottle.
Marshall left the kindest review, after working together on his brand.
“Communication and timely production was top notch. I was expecting a simple design for my YouTube channel, but Maggie went above and beyond by providing me with materials to be successful down the road. This saved me time AND money! I call that a huge win and I couldn’t be happier.”
