About Maggie
My nephew inspired Xavi Baby. At the time I made this, he was growing too fast, and has ALWAYS been active.
I thought that a children’s clothing company would be fun to brand as kids grow like crazy, and there could be something fun and unique to this type of brand.
My dream with this brand was that it is a rental/subscription-based children’s clothing company. Since children grow so fast, Xavi Baby could provide various clothing items to parents who then allow their children to wear, wash, and live in them until they grow out of them.
This would be more sustainable than buying all new clothes every few weeks, especially in the early weeks of little ones growing so fast.
When the clothes get ruined or destroyed, parents ship items back to Xavi Baby. Then the clothes get a new life. Being used as patches or sown to make something new. Xavi Baby is about sustainability both in the clothing industry, but also environmentally.
They are a fun, unique, and stylish clothing brand. Allowing growing children the freedom to wear clothes without burdening their parents with buying expensive new wardrobes every few weeks.
Xavi Baby’s target market is parents who are environmentally conscience–that is why I went with more earth tones in the brand palette. Recycling and green are synonyms with each other. Which Xavi Baby stakes their mission on.
Along with choosing green, as a gender-neutral colour, giving Xavi Baby the door to create and design clothes for both little boys and girls.
As well, Xavi Baby also encourages fun. They want their families to wear these clothes and play! Xavi Baby expects their clothes to be worn down through time, so they want to recycle old pieces and bring life to new items.
All of these pieces are important to include in the brand elements to convey fun, environmentally conscience, and uniqueness to stand out from the current well-known baby clothing brands.
To ensure Xavi Baby stands out, I went with some unique shapes and bold colours, and fonts. Things that you typically wouldn’t see with other clothing brands.
I wanted the logos to be bold enough to stand out on their own, and also be recognizable to viewers.
The logo variations, like all brands, can be used in different marketing materials and print collateral. The different sizes of variations can be placed on clothing tags and used on signage.
As I step into this next season of motherhood, I truly think I could benefit from a company like Xavi Baby. I enjoyed being able to create a fun brand that seemed practical for families. Especially with something so important like clothing.
While this brand sits high in my passion project folder, I’m excited to finally share something that is in a realm I’ve never worked with. I wanted to try and build a brand for a clothing company. And make something that reflected sustainable, and conscientious business values. Do you think I was able to do that?
I had so much fun creating this brand for my friend, even if it was only a passion project. I’d love to know what other industry I could try to create a brand for. Or if you are looking for a new brand, I’d be honoured to work with you! Hop into my inbox, or DM me on the ‘gram to chat!
